Gedenkfeier in Lackenbach: Vor 70 Jahren wurde das NS-Lager errichtet
In Lackenbach (mehr hier) wurde der Tausenden von den Nazis ermordeten Roma und Sinti gedacht. Rund 200 Menschen kamen am Samstag zur Gedenkveranstaltung beim Mahnmal für die während der NS-Zeit ermordeten Roma und Sinti in Lackenbach (Bezirk Oberpullendorf im Burgenland). Der Obmann des Kulturvereins österreichischer Roma, Rudolf Sarközi, erinnerte an das Jahr 1940, als in Lackenbach das „Zigeuner“-Anhalte- und Zwangsarbeitslager eingerichtet wurde. Dabei kritisierte Sarközi auch die burgenländische Gemeinde Kemeten, die sich seit Jahren dem Wunsch der Überlebenden nach einer Gedenktafel für die ermordeten Roma des Ortes verweigert. Es sei eine Beleidigung der Opfer, dass es dort noch immer keine Gedenkstätte gebe.

Erst vor wenigen Jahren hat der heute 70-jährige Sinto aus Bayern Hugo Höllenreiner begonnen, bei Gedenkfeiern und in Schulklassen über das zu sprechen, was ihm und seiner Familie unter der nationalsozialistischen Herrschaft zugefügt wurde. Diese leidvolle Lebensgeschichte bewog den jungen Roma-Musiker und -Komponisten Adrian Gaspar, ein Oratorium zu komponieren – mit dem Ziel, die Geschichte der Volksgruppe aufzuarbeiten und ein friedliches Miteinander zu fördern. Die jüngste Produktion, die vom Land Salzburg als Schulfilm in Auftrag gegeben wurde, befasst sich mit der Verfolgung von Sinti und Roma in Österreich in der NS-Zeit, fokussiert am sogenannten „Zigeunerlager Maxglan“ in Leopoldskron-Moos. Dank der Forschungen des Historikers Gert Kerschbaumer sind die Namen und Schicksalsverläufe der 245 Kinder, Frauen und Männer, die in diesem Lager interniert waren, bekannt. 160 von ihnen wurden 1943 aus Maxglan ins Vernichtungslager Auschwitz-Birkenau deportiert. Der Bildungsfilm für Salzburgs Schulen wurde von „Aktion Film Salzburg“ erstellt, Regie führte Markus Weisheitinger-Herrmann. Durch die Vermittlungsform des Doku-Dramas werden die Geschehnisse für Jugendliche nachvollziehbar dargestellt. Die DVD enthält ergänzend zum Film umfangreiches Begleitmaterial vom einfachen Arbeitsblatt über Detailinformationen und Tests hin zu Radiobeiträgen (Radiofabrik) und den kompletten Zeitzeugeninterviews. Gestern wurde der 31-minütige Film im Musikerheim Maxglan in Anwesenheit von Landeshauptfrau Gabi Burgstaller und einiger Überlebender der Öffentlichkeit präsentiert:
Die historischen Ereignisse rund um das Zwangslager in Leopoldskron-Moos zeigen Diskriminierung, Zwangsarbeit, Deportation und Vernichtung der Sinti und Roma im Dritten Reich. Im Doku-Drama wird die Geschichte der Bauerstochter Lena erzählt, die mit der Sinti-Familie Herzbacher befreundet ist. Nach dem Anschluss Österreichs 1938 ergeht ein „Runderlass zur Bekämpfung der Zigeunerplage“. Lena muss ohnmächtig miterleben wie die Herzbachers interniert, zur Zwangsarbeit gezwungen und schließlich ins KZ Auschwitz deportiert werden. Der Wiederbetätigungsprozess gegen jene vier Jugendlichen, die im Mai 2010 an einer „Störaktion“ während der Gedenkfeier im ehemaligen KZ Ebensee beteiligt gewesen sein sollen, hat nun begonnen. Sie hatten neonazistische Parolen (Anm.: „Blood and Honour“, „Die Stollen gehören uns“, „Heil Hitler“ und „Sieg Heil, ihr Schweine“) skandiert, schließlich wurde sogar mit einer täuschend echt aussehenden „Softgun“ auf Zeitzeuginnen und Zeitzeugen geschossen. Romane Thana ist ein vom Romano Centro durchgeführtes Dokumentationsprojekt, das die „verborgene“ Geschichte der Roma und Sinti anhand ihrer Orte und Plätze in Erinnerung rufen möchte (und in das zu unserer Freude nicht zuletzt auch die Zeitzeugenedition „Mri historija“ und die Forschungsarbeit unseres Vereins Roma-Service mit eingeflossen sind). Am 24. Juni 2010 findet im Rahmen der Grazer Veranstaltungsreihe Romale!10 eine Präsentation der Website www.romane-thana.at und der ersten Ergebnisse in Form eines „Erzählcafés“ statt (Beginn: 18 Uhr im <rotor>, Volksgartenstraße 6a, 8020 Graz). Bei ihrer historischen Spurensuche sind die Projektleiterinnen dabei auch auf Hinweise und Zeitzeugenberichte angewiesen und bitten daher um Mithilfe (siehe unten).

Berlin — Am 9. Juni 2010, genau 77 Jahre nach dem Meisterschaftssieg Johann „Rukeli“ Trollmanns im Halbschwergewicht, wird das temporäre Denkmal zu Ehren des 1944 im KZ Neuengamme erschlagenen Profiboxers im Viktoriapark in Berlin-Kreuzberg eingeweiht (siehe zu Trollmann auch unseren Artikel in dROMa 15/2007). Bereits in den 1920er galt der Boxer Trollmann, der aus einer alteingesessenen Hannoveraner Sinti-Familie stammte, in seiner Klasse als Ausnahmetalent. Er feierte unter tosendem Beifall seine sportlichen Erfolge und avancierte schon zu Beginn seiner Karriere zum Publikumsliebling. Aufgrund seiner ethnischen Herkunft wurde Trollmann in der Zeit des Nationalsozialismus rassisch verfolgt. Sein Titel als „Deutscher Meister im Halbschwergewicht“ wurde ihm acht Tage nach seinem Sieg aberkannt, sein Kampfstil von den nationalsozialistischen Sportfunktionären als „unarisch“ diffamiert. Schritt für Schritt wurde dem ehemals gefeierten Sportler seine Existenzgrundlage entzogen. Schließlich wurde er 1942 im KZ Neuengamme inhaftiert und musste, nicht zuletzt wegen seines Bekanntheitsgrades, schlimmste Misshandlungen und Demütigungen über sich ergehen lassen. 1944 wurde Johann „Rukeli“ Trollmann im Alter von 36 Jahren in Wittenberge, einem Außenlager des KZs Neuengamme, erschlagen. Sein Schicksal steht beispielhaft für den Völkermord an den Sinti und Roma, der lange Zeit im öffentlichen und wissenschaftlichen Diskurs vernachlässigt wurde.

Die Fertigstellung des Berliner Denkmals für die im Nationalsozialismus ermordeten Sinti und Roma verzögert sich erneut. Nach Informationen des RBB-Senders Radio Berlin 88,8 muss der für Ende Oktober 2010 geplante Einweihungstermin verschoben werden. Als Grund werden „gravierende technische Schwierigkeiten beim Bau des Denkmals im Tiergarten“ genannt: „Im Tiergarten soll eine ebenmäßige, schwarze Metallwanne entstehen. Doch die Platten, die die beauftragte Firma zusammengeschweißt hat, wellen sich, rosten teilweise und passen nicht richtig zusammen. Eine Ausbesserung sei nicht möglich, teilte Künstler Dani Karavan über seinen Anwalt mit. Er weigert sich, das Objekt in dieser Form abzunehmen, und will eine neue Firma beauftragen. Der Berliner Senat, der für die Bauausführung zuständig ist, bestätigte die Terminverschiebung. Man sei aber zuversichtlich, dass die Mängel beseitigt werden könnten.“ Der Baubeginn des Denkmals hatte sich schon zuvor wiederholt verzögert. Bereits Anfang der 90er Jahre hatte die deutsche Bundesregierung einen Grundsatzbeschluss zur Errichtung einer eigenen Gedenkstätte gefasst, doch erst nach jahrelangen Streitigkeiten über Wortwahl und Inhalt der Inschriften (mehr dazu in dROMa 20/2008/PDF) erfolgte am 19. Dezember 2008 der symbolische Baubeginn. Die Fertigstellung war ursprünglich für 2009 vorgesehen.
