Im Rahmen eines Literaturprojekts lud Monika Kerschbaumer, Lehrerin in der Wiener Volksschule „Europaschule“ Vorgartenstraße, den Roma-Rapper Muadin Memis aka „Schoko MC“ ein, um mit den Kindern zum Thema Sprache zu arbeiten. Der Sprache Romanes kam hier eine besondere Bedeutung zu, denn, „in unserer Schule soll und darf jede/r auf seine Kultur und Muttersprache stolz sein“, so die engagierte Lehrerin Kerschbaumer. „Organisationen, die uns vertreten, können nicht immer nur die Rassismus-Keule schwingen.“ − Natascha Winter, Vorsitzende der Sinti-Allianz in Deutschland spricht im Interview mit Gilda Horvath über die Situation der Roma und Sinti in Deutschland und in Europa.
Die Sinti-Allianz Deutschland ist – im Wortlaut ihrer Selbstbeschreibung – „ein Zusammenschluss deutscher Zigeuner (Sinti). Sie wurde im Jahr 2000 von 20 Stammesvertretern gegründet, deren Sippen in allen alten Ländern der Bundesrepublik Deutschland leben, und ist Dachverband von bisher neun unabhängigen Sinti-Organisationen sowie einem Lowara-Stamm.“ Der Verein betont den deutschen Charakter der autochthonen Volksgruppe und wendet sich vehement gegen die Verschriftlichung des Romani und dessen Etablierung als Schrift-, Amts- oder Unterrichtssprache:
„Unsere Kultur und Sprache in öffentlichen Schulen zu lehren, sie zum Gegenstand eines Hochschulstudiums zu machen, in Ämtern zu benutzen oder die Sprache in den Medien zu publizieren, würde einen völligen Bruch mit den kulturellen Gesetzen der Sinti-Gemeinschaft bedeuten. Wir lehnen daher jede staatliche Maßnahme in diesem Bereich ab, die in den privaten Charakter der Sinti-Kultur und Sprachpflege eingreift, wie sie etwa als staatliche Förderungsverpflichtungen in der Europäischen Charta der Regional- oder Minderheitensprachen enthalten sind.“ Read the rest of this entry »

Muttersprache Roman & Edition „Mri Historija“
Ein wichtiger Schwerpunkt des Vereins Roma-Service ist der Erhalt der Muttersprache Roman (Burgenland-Romani). Im Einklang mit dem Volksgruppengesetz, dem Schulunterrichtsgesetz und in Zusammenarbeit mit öffentlichen Institutionen plant Roma-Service den Bedarf an Roman-Unterricht zu erheben und, wo er besteht, zu decken. Emmerich Gärtner-Horvath erzählt heute im Interview mit Susanne Horvath in der Sendung „Roma sam“ über die Schwerpunkte des Vereins Roma-Service und über die derzeitige Situation betreffend den Roman-Unterricht und den Sprachgebrauch.
Lebensgeschichten von 15 Männern und Frauen in Film, Wort und Bild: Burgenländische Roma, die zwischen 1923 und 1955 geboren wurden, erzählen über einen fast vergessenen Teil österreichischer Geschichte. Die 15 Broschüren der Zeitzeugen-Edition „Mri Historija“, herausgegeben vom Verein Roma-Service, sind jeweils einer Person gewidmet. Sie umfassen neben einer Kurzbiografie ein ausführliches Interview, eine vom ORF-Burgenland produzierte DVD, historische und aktuelle Fotos.
„Mri Historija“ wird am 26. November 2009, 19.00 Uhr, ORF Funkhaus Eisenstadt, Buchgrabenweg 51, 7000 Eisenstadt, präsentiert.

In der aktuellen Sendung von Radio Kaktus feiert Nevimos – der neue wöchentliche Newsflash in Romanes – seine Premiere. Nevimos bringt die wichtigsten Themen aus den Weltnachrichten sowie „Hot News“ aus der internationalen und regionalen Roma-Welt. Neben den ausführlichen Berichten und Interviews zu aktuellen Wochenthemen und Romamusik aus aller Welt ist Nevimos nun die dritte Säule von Radio Kaktus. „Ich glaube es ist wichtig für die Volksgruppe, über jene Dinge, die die Welt bewegen auch in ihrer Muttersprache informiert zu werden. Nevimos verbindet unsere Sprache mit dem Informationszeitalter“, so Sendungsgestalterin Gilda Horvath.

Mitarbeiterin der ORF-Volksgruppenredaktion Tatjana Berlakovich porträtiert vier junge Burgenländer und Volksgruppenangehörige, Julia Schweiger, Mario Baranyai, Bararbara Horvath und Thomas Sailer, in einem Film. Die Dokumentation, sagt Tatjana Berlakovits im Interview mit Susanne Horvath, zeigt die Schwierigkeiten, als auch die positiven Seiten eines Lebens mit zwei Kulturen auf. Der Film wird am 15. Seit 2005 wird in der Wohnung der Romni Margarethe Baranyai in Deutsch Kaltenbrunn Roman (Burgenland-Romani) gelernt. „Wir freuen uns, dass Charly (Emmerich Gärtner-Horvath) zu uns kommt und uns die Sprache in Wort und Schrift lehrt.“ Der Roman-Unterricht im Ort ist nicht mehr wegzudenken. Jede Woche freuen sich die Teilnehmer, wenn der RomBus ihr Wohnviertel anfährt. Dass der Roman-Unterricht bei ihnen zu Hause abgehalten wird, ist für die Bewohner besonders wichtig, da keiner die Möglichkeit hat, selbst zu einem Kurs zu fahren, sagt Margarethe Baranyai im Interview mit Susanne Horvath. Der Verein Roma-Service hält im Romano Centro in Wien bereits seit sechs Semestern den Roman-Unterricht ab. Das Roman, die Romani-Variante der Burgenland-Roma, wurde bis vor einigen Jahren ausschließlich mündlich weitergegeben. Seit Herbst 1993 wurde dann das Burgenland-Romani gemeinsam mit dem Romani-Projekt der Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz kodifiziert und didaktisiert. Im Laufe der Zeit wurden neben den diversen Publikationen auch Lehrmaterialen erstellt, die bei den Roman-Kursen zum Einsatz kommen. Im Romano Centro lernen Roma und Nicht-Roma nun gemeinsam Roman: Die Teilnehmer, die größtenteils keine Volksgruppenangehörigen sind, kommen wöchentlich zusammen, um die Sprache Roman in Wort und Schrift zu erlernen.
