Direkthilfe Roma: Hilfsprojekt mit Gurkerln und Kraut in der Slowakei

volksgruppen.orf.at: Während die Ausweisung von 8.000 Roma aus Frankreich hohe politische und emotionale Wellen in Europa schlägt, gedeiht ein österreichisches Hilfsprojekt in zwei Roma-Siedlungen in der Ostslowakei. Vor drei Jahren hat Heinz Kumpf die „Direkthilfe Roma“ ins Leben gerufen. Ehrenamtliche Mitarbeiter vertreiben Gewürzgurken und Kraut gegen freiwillige Spenden in Österreich und bringen regelmäßig Hilfsgüter in die Slowakei. „Gib der Armut das Gurkerl“ und „Gegen Armut ist ein Kraut gewachsen“ steht auf den Einweckgläsern, die Roma-Familien das Überleben sichern. Roman Gruylo zum Beispiel freut sich mit seiner Frau und seinen sechs Kindern darüber, dass sie sich nun Strom in ihrem kleinen, abbruchreifen Haus leisten können.

Gitta Martl (Foto: Verein Ketani)Der Demokratiepreis der Margaretha-Lupac-Stiftung (mehr hier) geht heuer an Frauen und Fraueneinrichtungen. Der Preis wurde Gitta Martl, der langjährigen Generalsekretärin des Vereins Ketani, Direktorin Heidi Schrodt und „ihrem“ Gymnasium Rahlgasse in Wien und dem Verein „Frauen aus allen Ländern“ in Innsbruck, zugesprochen.

Gitta Martl hat aufgrund persönlicher Erfahrungen im Jahr 1998 den Verein Ketani für Sinti und Roma in Linz mitbegründet. Ihre persönliche, tragische Lebensgeschichte hat sie im Buch „Uns hat es nicht geben sollen: Rosa Winter, Gitta und Nicole Martl. Drei Generationen Sinti-Frauen erzählen“ (Anm.: hrsg. von Ludwig Laher) veröffentlicht. Mit unglaublichem Engagement hat sie vielfältige Aktivitäten zur Minderheitendemokratie geleistet. Dabei stand stets das Miteinander zwischen Bevölkerungsgruppen im Mittelpunkt und nicht die Polarisierung.

„Im Ausland“: Empowerment als Vereinsziel

Beratung volksgruppen.orf.at: Der Verein „Im Ausland“ unterstützt Roma in sozialen und rechtlichen Fragen. Gilda Horvath besuchte den seit sechs Jahren bestehenden Verein nun im neu bezogenen Vereinslokal im 15. Wiener Gemeindebezirk (Selzergasse 34, 1150 Wien). Der Verein „Im Ausland“ (siehe auch hier), getragen von der Sozialarbeiterin Elisabeth Ettmann und dem Diplompsychologen Đjurica Nikolić, legt Unterstützung in sozialen Fragen breit an. Das Angebot reicht von Beratungsgesprächen zu den Themen Gesundheit, Ernährung, familiäre Probleme über psychosoziale Betreuung in schwierigen Lebenslagen bis zur Unterstützung bei der Durchsetzung von Rechtsansprüchen und beim Ausfüllen von Formularen. „Für Arbeitslose, MigrantInnen oder aus anderen Gründen an den Rand der Gesellschaft gedrängte Personen entscheidet der Zugang zu Informationen über das österreichische Sozial- und Gesundheitssystem, ob sie ihre Grundbedürfnisse befriedigen können. Das Belgrader Museum bietet den Besuchern Einblicke in diverse Aspekte der Kultur dieser Volksgruppe nicht nur in Serbien, sondern auf dem ganzen Balkan und anderen europäischen Staaten vom Mittelalter bis zur Gegenwart. „Organisationen, die uns vertreten, können nicht immer nur die Rassismus-Keule schwingen.“ − Natascha Winter, Vorsitzende der Sinti-Allianz in Deutschland spricht im Interview mit Gilda Horvath über die Situation der Roma und Sinti in Deutschland und in Europa.

Die Sinti-Allianz Deutschland ist – im Wortlaut ihrer Selbstbeschreibung – „ein Zusammenschluss deutscher Zigeuner (Sinti). Sie wurde im Jahr 2000 von 20 Stammesvertretern gegründet, deren Sippen in allen alten Ländern der Bundesrepublik Deutschland leben, und ist Dachverband von bisher neun unabhängigen Sinti-Organisationen sowie einem Lowara-Stamm.“ Der Verein betont den deutschen Charakter der autochthonen Volksgruppe und wendet sich vehement gegen die Verschriftlichung des Romani und dessen Etablierung als Schrift-, Amts- oder Unterrichtssprache:

„Unsere Kultur und Sprache in öffentlichen Schulen zu lehren, sie zum Gegenstand eines Hochschulstudiums zu machen, in Ämtern zu benutzen oder die Sprache in den Medien zu publizieren, würde einen völligen Bruch mit den kulturellen Gesetzen der Sinti-Gemeinschaft bedeuten. Wir lehnen daher jede staatliche Maßnahme in diesem Bereich ab, die in den privaten Charakter der Sinti-Kultur und Sprachpflege eingreift, wie sie etwa als staatliche Förderungsverpflichtungen in der Europäischen Charta der Regional- oder Minderheitensprachen enthalten sind.“ Read the rest of this entry »
