Der Lyriker Ilija Jovanović verstarb in der Nacht zum 26. November 2010 mit 60 Jahren in Wien. Seine langjährige Begleiterin Christa Stippinger vom Verein Exil organisierte gemeinsam mit Freunden und Begleitern einen Abend in Gedenken an Jovanović. „Er hatte noch so viel Potenzial, so viele Ideen“, bringt Christa Stippinger den großen Verlust auf den Punkt. Auch Mozes Heinschink verabschiedete sich in seiner Rede emotional vom Roma-Poeten: „Es verband uns eine 40-jährige Freundschaft“, sprach der Sprachwissenschafter bewegt. Ivana Ferencova und der Chor der „Frauen in Weiß“ sowie das „roma.klang.theater.exil“ (Koloman Polak, Zuzana Rasiová, Karol Csino, Miroslav Suchomel, Ladislav Cibulka und Nikolaus Scheibner) und der Sohn des Verstorbenen, Obrad Jovanović lasen und vertonten die Texte.
