Seit Jahren dokumentieren das European Roma Rights Centre (ERRC) und die Menschenrechtsliga (LDH) alle ihnen bekannt werdenden Fälle von Zwangsräumungen in Frankreich. (Viele Fälle, die nicht publik werden, werden allerdings nicht erfasst.) Allein im Jahr 2013 verloren demnach 21.537 Roma ihre Unterkünfte: 165 informelle Camps mit 19.380 Personen wurden von den französischen Behörden geräumt. Zu den Vertreibungen kamen 22 weitere Camps, die durch Feuer zerstört wurden: 2.157 Roma verloren dadurch ihre Behausungen.
Die Zahl hat sich gegenüber 2012 mehr als verdoppelt: Damals verzeichneten ERRC und LDH insgesamt 9.404 Roma, die von den Behörden vertrieben wurden (2011 waren es 8.455)
