Roma-Service bei der Roma-Konferenz in Murska Sobota
volksgruppen.orf.at: Emmerich Gärtner-Horvath, Vertreter der österreichischen Roma bei der Konferenz in Slowenien, stellte anfangs die Arbeit des Vereins Roma-Service vor. Produkte, welche in den letzten zehn Jahren seit Bestehen des Vereins Roma-Service gemacht wurden – wie zum Beispiel die einzigartigen Zeitzeugendokumentationen „Mri Historija“ und „Amari Historija“, das Roman-Liederbuch „Burgenland dschilal“ oder die erst kürzlich erschienene DVD „Die Küche der Roma“ – fanden bei den Teilnehmer/innen großen Anklang.
Gemeinsames Programm
In Europa gehört Diskriminierung gegenüber der Volksgruppe der Roma zum Alltag. Besonders zu spüren bekommen Roma das in den ehemaligen Ostblockstaaten. Deshalb wird gemeinsam ein Programm erarbeitet, damit die Roma in eine bessere Zukunft blicken können. „Dieser Weg, der hier und jetzt bei der Roma-Konferenz vorgegeben wird, wird erst in einigen Jahren den Erfolg zeigen“, sagt der Obmann vom Verein Roma-Service, Emmerich Gärtner-Horvath. „Es darf jedoch nicht geglaubt werden, dass dadurch die Diskriminierung der Volksgruppe weniger wird“, so der Roma-Aktivist. „Wichtig ist, dass Roma selbst aktiv werden und sich gegen jegliche Form des Rassismus wehren. Die Politik allein wird dieses Problem nämlich nicht lösen können“, so Gärtner-Horvath weiter
