„Von Auschwitz in den Harz – Sinti und Roma im KZ Mittelbau-Dora“
Die Initiative „Geschichte vermitteln“ zeigt in Kooperation mit der Gedenkstätte für Zwangsarbeit Leipzig die Wanderausstellung „Von Auschwitz in den Harz. Sinti und Roma im KZ Mittelbau-Dora“. Im Mittelpunkt stehen die Verschleppung sowie der Kampf der Sinti und Roma um das Überleben in den Lagern des KZ Mittelbau (Anm.: eines Außenlagers des Konzentrationslagers Buchenwald). Anhand von zahlreichen Dokumenten, Fotos und Erinnerungsberichten wird der Beginn der Verfolgung der Sinti und Roma in Nordhausen (Thüringen) seit den 1930er Jahren thematisiert. Auch das oftmals vergebliche Ringen der KZ-Überlebenden um gesellschaftliche Anerkennung nach 1945 ist Gegenstand der Ausstellung.

Das „Forum Tsiganologische Forschung“ ist am Institut für Ethnologie der Universität Leipzig angesiedelt und bezeichnet sich selbst als „einzige deutsche Institution, die sich aus ethnologischer Perspektive mit den transnationalen, nationalen und lokalen Gruppen der Roma/Zigeuner beschäftigt“. Es möchte nicht an die lange Tradition der wissenschaftlichen (Re-)Produktion antiziganistischer Stereotype anknüpfen, sondern eine differenzierte Darstellung ziganer Kulturen in ihrer Heterogenität leisten. Einer Tsiganologie auf der Höhe der Zeit dürfe es nicht um die Bestimmung eines wie auch immer gearteten Wesens der ‘Zigeuner_innen’ gehen, sondern darum, Minderheitengruppen in ihrem Wechselverhältnis mit der jeweiligen Mehrheitsgesellschaft zu verstehen.
