Der Fluss ist Leitmotiv des „orphischen Theater-Essays“ des burgenländischen Autors und Regisseurs Peter Wagner. Gemeint ist damit weniger der griechische Totenfluss als vielmehr das Fluidum eines mehrsprachigen Grenz- und Schwellenlandes, wie es das heutige Burgenland seit Jahrtausenden darstellt. Die Fächerung des verwendeten Liedgutes, das vom Komponisten Ferry Janoska zu einem zeitgemäßen Hörerlebnis arrangiert und von SchauspielerInnen und SängerInnen zu Live-Musik interpretiert wird, reicht von weltlichen Liedern aller im Burgenland einstmals und gegenwärtig vorhandenen Sprachgruppen (Deutsch, Kroatisch, Ungarisch, Jiddisch, Hianzisch, Roman) bis zu Volksballaden und geistlichen Liedern aus dem Bereich der Totenklagen.
