Das Theaterstück „Gipsy stop dancing“ macht das Palais Kabelwerk zum Boxring

Bei Musik und Tanz denken viele an Sinti und Roma. Aber bei Boxen? „Wir haben unsere Geschichte bewusst so gewählt“, sagt Schauspielerin Sandra Selimovic, denn: „Wer verbindet schon Sport und Roma?“ Sie und ihre Schwester Simonida Jovanovic sind Gründerinnen des Roma-Theatervereins „Romano Svato“ und haben das Stück „Gipsy stop dancing“ geschrieben.
Angelehnt ist die Handlung an die Biografie des deutschen Sinto-Boxers Johann „Rukeli“ Trollmann, der von den Nazis verfolgt und im KZ umgebracht wurde. „Es ging uns nicht darum, die Biografie eines toten Sinto zu erzählen, sondern sein Schicksal ins Heute zu verlegen“, erklärt Selimovic, die Hauptdarstellerin. In „Gipsy stop dancing“ steht eine junge Romni kurz davor, den ungarischen Meistertitel im Boxen zu holen und wird zum Angriffsziel einer rechtsextremen Regierung. Das zweisprachige Theaterstück ist somit doppelt emanzipatorisch: Es handelt von den Problemen der Roma und denen der Frau in einer Männerdomäne.
Und es soll davor warnen, dass sich Geschichte schneller wiederholen kann, als man glaubt. Auch die Boxerin ist zunächst naiv und sieht nicht, was sich zusammenbraut [...]. Sie wird eines Besseren belehrt. Romadiskriminierungen passieren auch heute noch. In Osteuropa sehen sich Roma und Sinti teils regelrechten Hetzkampagnen ausgesetzt, etwa in Ungarn, wo arbeitslose Roma in „gemeinnützige“ Arbeitslager gezwungen werden. Um die aufgeladene Atmosphäre nur einige Autostunden von Wien entfernt herauszustreichen, arbeitet die Produktion mit Videos, die im Hintergrund einiger Szenen zu sehen sind. Es sind Bilder, die man in den Medien nur sporadisch sieht, wie abgefackelte Roma-Häuser oder ein Vorfall auf einer slowakischen Polizeistation im Jahr 2009: Polizisten hatten aufgegriffene Romakinder gezwungen, sich nackt auszuziehen und gegenseitig zu ohrfeigen. Die Demütigungen wurden von einem der Polizisten gefilmt.
Doch ist auch Österreich keine Insel der Seligen. Ausgedehnte mediale Debatten um „kriminelle Zigeunerbanden“ und Bettelverbot heizen die Stimmung an.
