Roma-Notunterkunft in Helsinki geräumt

Ein ehemaliges Sozialzentrum in Helsinki, das seit Jahren als Schutzunterkunft für mittellose Roma aus Osteuropa dient, wurde heute früh unter Einsatz eines Großaufgebots an Polizei in Kampfausrüstung geräumt (mehr – auf Finnisch – hier). Die Roma wurden angewiesen, die Notunterkunft im Stadtteil Kalasatama umgehend zu verlassern und sich vorübergehend auf einen Campingplatz zu begeben bzw. bei christlichen Sozialhilfeeinrichtungen Schutz zu suchen. Die Stadtbehörden stellen den nun obdachlosen Roma keine Alternativunterkünfte zur Verfügung. Die Räumung ging nach offiziellen Angaben ohne Zwischenfälle vor sich. Kritiker bezeichnen das Vorgehen von Stadtverwaltung und Polizei hingegen als rassistisch und herabwürdigend.
