„Welche Zukunft haben Roma in Europa?“ war das Motto einer Podiumsdiskussion im Parlament in Wien. Seit vielen Jahren finanziert die EU Projekte, um der größten europäischen Volksgruppe einen besseren Zugang zu Wohnraum, Bildung und Gesundheitseinrichtungen zu schaffen. Im Parlament wurde darüber diskutiert, ob sich die Maßnahmen der EU bewährt haben.
Anlässlich des Internationalen Roma-Tages gab es im OHO in Oberwart eine Tagung, bei der speziell die Situation von Roma-Kindern im Mittelpunkt stand. Organisiert wurde die Veranstaltung von der Volkshochschule der Burgenländischen Roma, der Stadtgemeine Oberwart und dem Referat für ethnische Gruppen.
„Die Sezession – der Jugendstil in Österreich, Ungarn und Kroatien“, so lautet das Thema eines internationalen Schulprojektes. Teilnehmer sind Schüler des Theresianums und des Gymnasiums der Diözese Eisenstadt sowie Schüler des kroatischen Gymnasiums in Budapest und des Gymnasiums in Osijek. Im Rahmen des Projektes besuchten 25 Schüler aus Budapest das Burgenland und Wien.
Davon haben schon viele Schüler geträumt, verwirklicht haben es jetzt erstmals die Schüler des Gymnasiums in Oberpullendorf: sie betreiben ihr eigenes Schüler-Radio auf der Frequenz 98,8. Viermal die Woche moderieren die 11- bis 18-Jährigen ihre eigenen Sendungen auf Deutsch, Kroatisch und Ungarisch.
„Die zertanzten Schuhe“ ist der Titel eines mehrsprachigen Musicals des Zweisprachigen Gymnasiums Oberwart. Das Projekt ist im Rahmen des Jahres der Volkskultur 2010 unter dem Motto „Burgenland tanzt“ entstanden. Im Stück geht es um zwölf Prinzessinnen, die jede Nacht heimlich tanzen gehen. Premiere des Musicals war im OHO in Oberwart.
