Anlässlich einer Anhörung im Europäischen Parlament zur Ermordung der Roma und Sinti im Nationalsozialismus veranstaltet das Büro Brüssel der „Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung“ am 11. Mai 2010 die öffentliche Konferenz “Some […] want the Gypsies killed” – Antiziganismus und Rassismus in Europa. Die Konferenz findet im Veranstaltungssaal der „Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung“ in der Ave. Michel Ange 11 in Brüssel statt. Eröffnet wird die Konferenz von Romani Rose (angefragt), dem Vorsitzenden des Zentralrats der Deutschen Sinti und Roma. Rose hat die schlimmsten Folgen des Antiziganismus selbst erfahren müssen: Mehrere Mitglieder seiner Familie, darunter seine Großeltern, wurden im Nationalsozialismus ermordet. Im Anschluss eröffnen Joachim Brenner vom Förderverein Roma e.V. und der Künstler Bernd Rausch zusammen mit Maria Strauss, Ursula Rose und Patrizia Siwak, Familienangehörige von Opfern der Nazi-Diktatur, die dokumentarisch-künstlerische Ausstellung „Frankfurt Auschwitz“. Die Ausstellung wird bis zum 11. Juni 2010 montags bis freitags, 10 bis 17 Uhr in der Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung zu sehen sein.
Die Ausstellung „Frankfurt Auschwitz“ wurde erstmals zum 65. Jahrestag der Liquidation des „Zigeunerlagers“ Auschwitz im August 2009 präsentiert. Sie benennt die Täter, thematisiert die Vernichtung der Roma und Sinti in Auschwitz und zeigt die Erinnerung der Opfer und Überlebenden auf. Bilder des Saarbrücker Künstlers Bernd Rausch haben die Auslöschung sowohl des Einzelnen als auch der Gemeinschaft der Roma und Sinti durch die Nationalsozialisten zum Inhalt. Zudem wird die Arbeit des Förderverein Roma, des Trägers der Ausstellung, vorgestellt.
Der Historiker Dr. Udo Engbring-Romang von der Gesellschaft für Antiziganismusforschung e.V. wird sich in seinem Vortrag „Antiziganismus: Eine akzeptierte Form des Rassismus im modernen Europa?“ mit Beispielen des Antiziganismus in aktueller Forschung und Medien auseinandersetzen. Er zeigt auf, dass Antiziganismus in Europa nie ein gesellschaftliches Randphänomen war, sondern tief in der bürgerlichen Gesellschaft verwurzelt ist.
