Das österreichische Volksgruppengesetz wird geändert. Der Vorsitzende des Volksgruppenbeirates Rudolf Sarközi sprach im Interview für Radio Kaktus mit Serdar Erdost über die Neuerungen im Volksgruppengesetz. „Es ist schade, dass immer nur über ‚ausreichendes Mittel‘ für die Volksgruppe gesprochen wird, niemals über einen konkreten Prozentsatz vom Gesamtbudget“, kritisert Sarközi. Er ist skeptisch, was die Zukunft der autochthonen Volksgruppe betrifft. „Die Älteren sterben aus und es gibt immer noch zu wenige junge Menschen aus der autochthonen Volksgruppe, die sich aktiv engagieren“, meint Sarközi. Sicher wären jene Roma, die zugewandert sind, in der Mehrheit, doch ob jene die Volksgruppe in zwanzig Jahren ausmachen würden, sei auf einem anderen Blatt geschrieben.
Die Situation vieler Roma in den östlichen Nachbarländern sei unvorstellbar. „Wenn ich sehe, wie diese Menschen leben müssen, bin ich immer wieder entsetzt“, so Sarközi. Die europäischen Institutionen wie zum Beispiel das European Roma and Travellers Forum (ERTF) würden jedoch „Volksgruppentourismus“ betreiben, die zahlreichen europäischen Konferenzen wären zwar gut besucht, blieben hingegen meist ohne greifbare Resultate, kritisiert Sarközi.
THARA: Nevodrom-Kurs beginnt
Am 1. Februar 2010 beginnt bei „THARA Beratung & Dialog“ bereits zum 3. Mal der Berufsorientierungskurs für junge Roma und Sinti „Nevodrom“ – „Nevodrom“ bedeutet auf Romanes „neuer Weg“. Der Kurs soll jugendlichen Roma und Sinti zwischen 15 und 25 helfen, ihren persönlichen Weg am Arbeitsmarkt zu finden. „Wir wollen das Selbstbewusstsein der Jugendlichen stärken und sie auf die Arbeitswelt vorbereiten“, so Lydia Anstiss, Kurskoordinatorin von „Nevodrom“.
Der 17-wöchige Kurs beinhaltet Schnuppertage und ein 4-wöchiges Berufspraktikum sowie Grundwissen zur Geschichte und Kultur der Roma und Sinti. Jugendliche Roma und Sinti, die auf der Suche nach einer Lehrstelle sind, oder sich neu orientieren möchten, können sich noch zum Kurs anmelden.
