Seitdem die Minderheit der Roma und Sinti 1993 in Österreich offiziell als Volksgruppe anerkannt ist, hat sich einiges getan. Die Volksgruppe ist in das Bewusstsein der Bevölkerung gerückt. Viele Volksgruppenvereine, Wissenschafter und Wissenschafterinnen begannen, sich in zahlreichen Projekten mit der Geschichte, Kultur, Sprache und sozialen Lage der Volksgruppe zu beschäftigen. Eine Vernetzung und Zusammenschau all der Ergebnisse fand jedoch bislang nicht statt. Die Volkshochschule der burgenländischen Roma startete deshalb im Sommer 2013 ein Projekt, in dem vorhandene Publikationen, Materialien und Studien, die sich mit den Burgenland-Roma beschäftigen, gesammelt und didaktisch aufbereitet werden, sagt Peter Liszt. Weiters sollen damit Schritte gegen das Vergessen gesetzt sowie für die Geschichte, Kultur, Sprache und soziale Situation dieser nach wie vor diskriminierten und bildungsbenachteiligten Volksgruppe sensibilisiert werden, sagt Tina Nardai. Hinzu kommen Beratungs- und Begleitangebote für eine verstärkte Integration von Roma in bestehende Weiterbildungsmaßnahmen, um deren Weiterbildungsquote zu erhöhen, so Nardai weiter. Das Projekt ist bis Ende 2014 anberaumt. In dieser Zeit werden Tina Nardai und Peter Liszt gemeinsam an der Umsetzung der Projektvorhaben arbeiten.
