Die SozialMarie wurde am 1. Mai zum 15. Mal an 15 heraus­ra­gen­de soziale In­no­va­tio­nen im ORF Radio­Kultur­haus ver­geben. Die 15 ex­zel­len­ten sozialen In­nova­tio­nen, die mit neuen Heran­gehens­weisen und Lö­sun­gen auf gesell­schaft­li­che Probleme re­agie­ren, fin­den Sie hier.

Vererbte Armut ist nach wie vor Grund für lebenslange Be­nach­tei­li­gung. Der mit 15.000 € dotierte erste Preis ging an The Omama Project (Website) Frauen, die in slowa­kischen Roma-Sied­lungen leben, werden in Metho­den der kind­lichen Früh­för­derung ge­schult. Als Omamas unter­stützen sie in den Sied­lungen Mütter die motori­schen und kogni­tiven Fähig­keiten ihrer Kleinen zu ent­wickeln.

Worum geht es?

Omama is an early child development home-vi­si­ting pro­gram which sup­ports a healthy cog­nitive, social, and physical de­velop­ment of Roma children li­ving in poverty du­ring the most cri­tical period of every child’s life (0-3 years). Home visits are de­livered by trained Roma wo­men from the local com­muni­ties. They are em­powered to be a part of the solution in en­ding the cycle of gene­ra­tio­nal poverty.

Würdigung der Jury

Early and regular steps. Gentle, innovative, persis­tent. Every small step of progress is celebra­ted: The child suc­ceeds in an exer­cise. The Omama is em­ployed for the first time in her life. The children will not auto­mati­cally be en­rolled in a special school later. A de­tailed manual, an obser­va­tion sheet com­pleted after each visit, and the scien­tific support serve to im­prove and expand: More Omamas in more settle­ments. The pro­mo­tion of children after the third year of life as well. Politi­cians take more respon­si­bility for the situa­tion of the Roma mino­rity by strong­ly sup­por­ting their im­prove­ment.

Über den zweiten Preis (10.000 €) freut sich die Genossen­schaft für Gemein­wohl. Sie steht für eine alter­native Öko­nomie und bietet gemein­wohl­orien­tierte Finanz- und Bil­dungs­an­gebote. Mit dem drit­ten Preis (5.000 €) wurde die Social Rental Agency – On the Way out of the Hou­sing Crisis in Ungarn aus­ge­zeich­net. Die Agen­tur ver­mittelt zwi­schen Woh­nungs­losen und privaten sowie kom­mu­nalen Wohn­part­nerIn­nen und schafft leist­bare Miet­ver­hältnisse.
